Namaste - the authentic path to real one-ness
In a world that claims to be pushing for more equity, inclusion and diversity it’s hard to see evidence that we have made any progress. In fact, I would dare to say that the push has made it far worse. I would also say many people feel far less safe interacting with other because safety was thrown out and normalizing bullying and encouraging self hate intentionally replaced it.
From a healing practitioners perspective, we never make progress under these circumstances. This is not progress but is a huge step backward. The forceful push towards labels and obsessing about how we are different is counter to the natural evolution many were already moving toward, we are all one.
In my life I have personally done deep and painful work. When we transcend the ego, something I’ve been blessed to have temporary glimpses of, the identity labels that divide us disappear. Class, race, our stories, pain, politics, the stuff you see or assume on the surface level - it dissolves. The practice of namaste is to sit among others and feel not just an absence of all of the things that separate them from who you are, but it’s also a separation from all of the things that make you who you think you are.
Pain is an opportunity for healing. Healing is the pathway to one-ness.
There is a reason the yogis from the east sacrificed to gift the west with yoga. They came to a foreign world to bring us namaste because they knew what it would mean for us and the rest of the world. That's not to say that yoga is the only path to namaste. It is however a beautiful example of what is humanly possible.
A movement that normalizes self loathing and also continues to practice selective discrimination is not a society that genuinely wants healing and coming together.
The progressive world that I once felt at home in was at one time genuinely compassionate. Now it has become something where differences are exaggerated and people who see or think another way are afraid to speak because of the normalization of bullying or selective discrimination.
Developing genuine compassion for each other and the earth we live upon isn't an intellectual pursuit. It's not something someone can tell you what and how to think to get there. The path to there is individual. It can be supported by others, but it is a healing journey. It's something you experience. It's a pursuit of self love, not self loathing. Each of our individual and personal healing journeys makes ripples and that is the only thing that changes the world.
Compassion, oneness, reconnecting to Mother Earth and being a space holder for the pain and healing of others is my purpose. I will be using my voice more intentionally to speak more about the issues I’m so passionate about - the environment, bodily autonomy, informed consent, medical trauma, pain, compassion and oneness. If you're here for it, you'll see a new level of boldness and authenticity. I was too careful for too long, but a fire has been lit again. I love sharing the journey of unity, one-ness and namaste.
More to come!
Love,
Michelle
