We don't choose our passions, our passions choose us

Most people do know what their calling is, they're just afraid to pursue it. We can't help what we like. It's so common for people to choose a career path that is logical or that makes other people around us happy. It can be hard to follow a less traveled path or to choose a path that may involve more risk, such as entrepreneurship.

People often put off choosing the career paths that would bring them real fulfillment for years or even decades. We try to find purpose in conventional work and 9-5 jobs even when our heart wants to do something different.

Purpose is such an interesting concept. Do we really have a purpose in this life? Is there something we are meant to be doing? Our hearts tell us yes. When we finally make the choice to take the leap into work that calls to us, we feel exhilarated, motivated and inspired. Resisting these urges can leave us feeling stuck, drained and depressed.

It takes a healthy dose of faith and courage to finally listen to our heart and do the work that is purposeful and fulfilling but it leads to a life of more joy and deep satisfaction. We'll often find ourselves asking why we didn't do this sooner.
